Alusid raises £500,000 in pre-IPO funding to accelerate international growth and low-carbon innovation

15 December 2025

Alusid Limited, the UK-based sustainable ceramics and architectural surfaces company, has raised £500,000 in a pre-IPO equity funding round, supporting the next phase of its growth as it prepares for a potential IPO on AIM

The round was supported by existing investors including Octopus Investments, via its Octopus AIM VCT funds, the University of Lancashire, and Frontier IP, which also converted existing loan funding into equity as part of the transaction. Proceeds will be used to accelerate new product development, expand Alusid’s international distribution network, and further scale its proprietary low-carbon manufacturing technology.

Alusid has developed a patented dry-granulation ceramic manufacturing process that eliminates spray drying, delivering substantial reductions in CO2 emissions and water consumption compared with conventional ceramic production. Alusid’s tiles typically contain more than 95% recycled material, placing the company among the lowest-carbon producers in the global ceramics industry.

Market demand for Alusid’s products continues to grow across both retail and commercial channels in the UK and internationally. Topps Tiles plc has launched two Alusid-made ranges, Principle and Mas, across its UK retail estate, with a third range, Ashton, scheduled to launch in early 2026. Parkside Architectural Tiles has recently launched Luca, Alusid’s most recycled product to date, incorporating the company’s proprietary recycled glaze technology to achieve 99% recycled content.

Internationally, Alusid has signed distribution agreements with FRONT Materials in the Netherlands, 3D Wall Panels Italia in Italy, and Kakelspecialisten in Sweden, a subsidiary of Saint-Gobain, extending Alusid’s footprint across key European markets.

Alongside its core tile ranges, Alusid is also developing new moulded surface products, including shower trays, basins and architectural components. These products utilise a novel mineral and alkali geopolymer-based binder system designed to incorporate UK waste streams, broadening Alusid’s addressable markets and strengthening its proposition ahead of a potential IPO.

Alasdair Bremner, CEO of Alusid, said:
“Closing this funding round marks an important milestone as we prepare Alusid for the public markets. Demand from retailers, architects and distributors across Europe for genuinely low-carbon ceramic products continues to grow, and this investment allows us to accelerate product innovation and scale our international distribution with confidence. Our ambition is to demonstrate that sustainability and commercial performance can go hand in hand.”

Dominic Weller, Fund Manager, Octopus Investments, said:
“Alusid has built a compelling proposition at the intersection of design, sustainability and advanced manufacturing. We are pleased to continue supporting the company as it scales its technology and expands into new markets ahead of a potential IPO.”

Neil Crabb, Chief Executive of Frontier IP, said:
“Alusid continues to go from strength to strength, and the strong investor support for this funding round reflects the progress the company has made. Alusid is successfully scaling internationally while also developing new product categories, and we look forward to supporting the business as it explores options for an IPO.”

Ruth Connor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lancashire, said:
“We are delighted to support Alusid, the University’s first spin-out company, as it enters the next stage of its growth. This latest investment underlines both the strength of the underlying technology and the commercial progress achieved over the past decade.”
