Alusid signs exclusive Swedish distribution partnership with Kakelspecialisten AB

2 December 2025

Alusid Limited (“Alusid”), the UK manufacturer of premium tiles made from recycled industrial waste, has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Kakelspecialisten AB (“Kakelspecialisten”), one of Sweden’s largest and most respected tile suppliers and a subsidiary of Saint-Gobain.

The agreement marks a major step in expanding Alusid’s European distribution network and reflects rapidly growing demand for credible, measurable, low-carbon surface materials. Kakelspecialisten becomes Alusid’s third international partner, following distribution agreements in the Netherlands and Italy.

Under the terms of the agreement, Kakelspecialisten will have exclusive rights to distribute Alusid’s tiles to retail and commercial customers in Sweden for an initial 24-month period. The partnership will initially include the Mas, Principle and Ashton ranges, with further collections to be added as Alusid continues to scale production.

Founded in 1992 and headquartered in Stockholm, Kakelspecialisten is recognised as a Scandinavian leader in ceramic tiles and bathroom surfaces. The company represents a curated selection of premium European brands, combining significant commercial reach with deep showroom expertise and a high level of technical capability.

Kakelspecialisten is also a pioneer in sustainability within the sector. It recently launched a Swedish industry-first Climate Calculation tool, providing verified environmental impact data for its full ceramic tile range, supported by Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) covering 98% of its stocked products. The tool allows architects, designers and customers to review CO2 footprint metrics for each product line — a level of transparency deeply aligned with Alusid’s sustainability approach.

Alusid’s tiles are manufactured using proprietary processes that typically incorporate over 95% recycled materials and deliver a significantly lower carbon footprint than traditional ceramics. Its products have been adopted by a growing global client base — from major commercial brands such as Starbucks EMEA to leading retailers including Topps Tiles plc, which now carries two Alusid-made ranges throughout the UK. Parkside Architectural Tiles recently launched the Alusid-made Luca collection, the Company’s most recycled product to date, with 99% recycled content.

Martin Wreile, Purchasing Manager at Kakelspecialisten, said:
“Kakelspecialisten are proud to initiate this strategic collaboration. The growing awareness in the market regarding sustainability and the increasing ambition to build responsibly make this partnership particularly significant. Together, we strive to contribute to a more sustainable future within the construction industry.”

Alasdair Bremner, CEO of Alusid, commented:
“Since scaling our production, internationalising sales has been central to our mission. We’re seeing real momentum as partners across Europe recognise that sustainability in the built environment is urgent and needs to be transparently incorporated from the start. Kakelspecialisten share this vision. We are delighted to collaborate to bring genuinely low-carbon, ultra-high recycled content tiles to Sweden.”
