Alusid to launch Silicastone Tints at this year's Surface Design Show

We're getting ready for this year's Surface Design Show in London where we'll be showcasing some of our latest products from our Silicastone range, our unique recycled surface material available in both tiles and solid surfaces.

Based at the Business Design Centre, the annual event is not only a chance for us to meet architects, designers and specifiers, it's also an opportunity to discover and be inspired by new surface materials, lighting design, development and innovation.

For 2019, we're especially looking forward to New Talent, a section making its debut, curated by the internationally acclaimed speaker and Chief Creative Director at Trendease International, Jennifer Castoldi. All the New Talent exhibitors are up-and-coming designers within the surface and materials sector who have been in the industry for five years or less.

We're excited to meet experimental materials studio, MUUNA, Laura Evans Designs and material and surface designer, Orla Lawn as well as artist and designer Tomasz Maker. Charlotte Jade is another highlight – she offers an eye-catching range of hand-drawn designs that aim to reconnect us with the natural world. We love her entire ethos: to help reduce stress, aid mental wellbeing and improve productivity through her considered designs.

Another close to our hearts is Enis Akiev, who is focused on post-consumer plastic waste as a resource. Her Plastic Stone Tiles are created in a process inspired by rock formation and aim to increase the value of disposable packaging waste, making it accessible as an aesthetically pleasing and durable material. Through her work Enis hopes to "give impulses to rethink the general understanding of resources and to stimulate exploration of materials".

Inspired by the luxurious marble veneers of early 20th-century interiors, Spelk by surface designer Orla Lawn is a fresh take on decorative plywood panelling. Through developing a colourful handcrafted finishing technique, Orla has transformed a common economical building material into an elegant surface product.

Other exhibitors include Aya Kawabata Design whose incredible fabric designs hang like artwork; Blue Bamboo Designs, creators of biophilic inspired cork and wood wall tiles, screens and coverings with acoustic and thermal qualities and fabric and wallpaper designer Chloe Nalwoga who is set to show a selection of her inspiring wallcoverings.

There's also artist Laura Evans who will display intricate, colourful pen and ink drawn works and digital print experts, Sleek Editions, will showcase their fabrics for interior design and upholstery. Meanwhile, the hand-made interior wall finishes of Vacarda Design, created using Italian plaster to beautifully textured effect and a selection of Woodchip & Magnolia’s sumptuous and fun wallpaper designs, will also be on show.
