Spring/Summer 2019 trends for sustainable tiles and surfaces

Looking at this year's design trends for interiors, we've put together some mood boards for inspiration, using some of our latest products.

We've obviously covered the key theme of sustainability, as all of our tiles and surfaces are made of no less than 98% recycled materials. But we'll explore what's possible following four key looks we're loving this season.

Getting Back to Nature

Responding to a growing desire to get back to nature and embrace wellbeing, the biophilia trend – which translates as a love of all living things – is beautifully celebrated using our Silicastone Tints, a collection of handmade glazed wall tiles, featuring a palette of six organic colours. We love Bowland Green and Ashton Green.

These textured and unique tiles work well with organic materials such as wood floors, stone accessories and plant life, creating welcome calm in our homes or work environments.

Maximalism

After many years of minimalism and Scandi design dominating our interiors, grey is being gradually replaced with bright colours, graphic patterns and unique textures.

Our Silicastone Weave tiles mixed with our latest range, Tints, help add to this rebellious maximalism trend with an interesting use of colours, patterns and textures. This is a theme of excess, based on the philosophy that "more is more". But if we're going to do things responsibly, treading lightly on the planet, what better way to embrace this luxurious trend by using materials made of no less than 98% recycled materials?

Terrazzo Times

Terrazzo has become quite the trending material in recent months and it's set to be huge in 2019. Our Silicastone Solid Surfaces in Terrazzo are perfect for use on walls, work surfaces, table tops or furniture. Being handmade, our slabs are unique and each one varies slightly in texture and colour, so you're really getting something quite special.

Our colours are introduced in a variety of ways, either by adding ceramic pigments or by using specially sourced recycled aggregates. This means our Terrazzo solid surfaces will always keep their colour for decades to come.

Black is Back

Not to be mistaken for the popular Scandinavian minimalism, this particular trend has a more monochrome feel and ties in nicely with the maximalist look.

Our Silicastone Crackle tiles make a nice contrast to any interior that favours a black palette. Available in two slim format sizes, every crackle glaze tile is unique in both colour and texture, and gives a distinctive look and feel to any interior.

Silicastone Incline is another option, particularly in charcoal, as it creates a seductive and subtle surface effect that really comes to life when downlit.
